Matcha Tiramisu

Discover the enchanting union of Italian elegance and Japanese allure with our Matcha Tiramisu. Layers of velvety mascarpone cheese and matcha-infused ladyfingers unite to create a dessert that captivates both the eyes and the palate.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons rum (optional)
  • 1 package ladyfinger cookies (about 24 cookies)
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Matcha powder, for dusting
  • Optional: shaved white chocolate or chocolate curls for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Matcha Cream Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add the mascarpone cheese, granulated sugar, and matcha powder. Beat until smooth and well combined.
  2. Combine Coffee and Rum: In a shallow dish, combine the cooled brewed coffee and rum (if using).
  3. Assemble the Tiramisu: Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the coffee mixture, ensuring not to soak them for too long. Arrange a layer of dipped cookies at the bottom of an 8x8 inch square baking dish.
  4. Layer with Matcha Cream: Spread half of the matcha cream mixture over the layer of dipped cookies, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  5. Repeat Layers: Add another layer of dipped ladyfinger cookies on top of the matcha cream layer. Finish with the remaining matcha cream mixture, spreading it evenly.
  6. Chill: Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
  7. Dust with Cocoa and Matcha: Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder and matcha powder for a decorative touch. Optionally, garnish with shaved white chocolate or chocolate curls.
  8. Serve: Slice the Matcha Tiramisu into squares and serve chilled. Delight in the harmonious blend of matcha and creamy mascarpone in this exquisite dessert!

Tips:

  • For a bolder matcha presence, adjust the amount of matcha powder according to your preference.
  • Ensure the coffee used for dipping the ladyfinger cookies is robust to impart ample flavor.
  • Allow the tiramisu to chill for several hours or overnight for optimal texture and flavor development.
